Criminal Defence Duty Solicitor

Location: Blackburn

Salary: £30,000–£60,000 | Autonomy, Growth & Flexibility

Are you a passionate Criminal Defence Duty Solicitor seeking to manage a diverse caseload and develop your expertise in a respected regional practice? Our client, a reputable law firm in Blackburn, offers the perfect platform for solicitors looking for autonomy, professional growth, and a genuinely supportive team environment.

The Opportunity

You will handle a wide range of criminal defence cases, representing clients at police stations and in the Magistrates’ Court. This is an ideal role for individuals eager to make a real impact within the local community and build their professional profile.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied caseload of criminal defence matters

  • Represent clients at police stations and attend Magistrates’ Court

  • Participate in the out-of-hours rota for police station attendance

  • Build and maintain strong local and regional networks to attract new clients

  • Actively contribute to business development and marketing initiatives

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor (SRA or CILEX) with a current practising certificate

  • Duty Solicitor accreditation preferred (or willingness to become accredited)

  • Strong advocacy skills and willingness to conduct own advocacy

  • Ability to manage your own caseload independently and meet deadlines

  • Excellent client care and communication skills

  • Proficient in business development and marketing

  • IT literate (Word, Excel, Outlook) and able to work under pressure

  • Client following or ability to build a caseload is advantageous
