We’re seeking a proactive and reliable Engineer to maintain and operate our Extrusion equipment, drive continuous improvement, and support the growth of our Extrusion production team. Working on a 4-shift pattern across days and nights, you’ll play a key role in ensuring machine and process reliability, product quality, training new starters, and support engineering site wide when needed. Job Purpose:​

As a Extrusion Engineer/Operator your main role will be to work individually and within a team to maintain and operate all Extrusion equipment, working pro-actively to raise standards in the process and department.  You will ensure product quality standards and maximum output are achieved, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the business.

You will be required to carry out induction & training programs for new starters and to monitor the skill levels and identify the training needs of Extrusion Engineers / Operators if required on new or existing equipment. Occasionally you may be required to support the Engineering department and fellow shift engineers when called to do so.

We are looking for someone able to work effectively under pressure, liaising cross-functionally across the TML site, who is looking for a challenge and can demonstrate a good degree of reliability, plus plenty of flexibility in relation to both scope of role and working hours/shifts.

Key Responsibilities:​

    • Work in a safe, timely and cost-effective manner whilst maintaining & operating relevant equipment and processes within Tensar Manufacturing Ltd. 
    • ​Responsibility for the maintenance and performance of all extrusion process equipment, within scope of role. 
    • ​Induction & training for all new and existing personnel to cover H&S systems, function of factory and processes, products produced and quality criteria.
    • Demonstrate and train personnel in the safe and correct method of operating all process equipment using the relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs), including but not limited to fault finding. 
    • ​Monitor and record performance of processes, utilising the manufacturing execution system (MES), highlighting areas for improvement if required via assessment. 
    • ​Work in a team to carry out risk assessments and or be involved in projects involving changes to process equipment or procedures. 
    • ​Problem solving process/production problems, showcasing, and generating knowledge and skills in the area of process improvement, contributing to overall team performance. 
    • ​Supporting engineering on scheduled maintenance and assisting in breakdowns on plant equipment at TML. ​
    • Any other duties/projects that are reasonable and within the skills and ability of the post holder​

Experience & Qualifications:​

    • Full engineering apprenticeship and ideally an ONC minimum in a mechanical or electrical field or equivalent. 
    • ​Good all round engineering background including knowledge in pneumatics, hydraulics, motor and drive systems, electrical controls and instrumentation. 
    • ​Understanding of Extrusion machinery desirable
    • ​Knowledge of health and safety and accident and incident procedures to ensure safe running of plant and machinery. 
    • ​Knowledge and understanding of training systems, shift reporting required. 
    • ​IT literacy and ability to input and retrieve information using basic Microsoft software to generate reports. 
    • ​Excellent verbal and written English and good mathematical skills. ​
    • Knowledge of SAP would be advantageous.
