Location: CANW Residential Children’s Homes (Wilpshire, Blackburn)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (flexible rota including weekends)
Salary: £30,018 – £32,004

We are looking for a dedicated Residential Therapist to join our team and help transform lives.

Your Role

As a Residential Therapist, you will play a vital part in supporting the emotional and mental wellbeing of children and young people living in our homes. You will:

  • Provide 1:1 and group therapeutic interventions

  • Identify emotional and mental health needs through assessment​

  • Deliver a range of creative, person-centered and solution-focused therapeutic approach

  • Support residential staff teams through guidance, reflective discussion and mental health workshops

  • Work collaboratively across agencies to achieve the best outcomes

  • Contribute to service development and ensure practice aligns with safeguarding, Ofsted and CANW standards

We are seeking someone who is compassionate, resilient and passionate about improving young lives.

✔ Essential Qualifications (Level 3+ in at least one):

  • Counselling Skills

  • CBT

  • Play Therapy

  • Psychology

  • CYP IAPT (Children & Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioner or Education & Mental Health Practitioner)

✔ Essential Experience:

  • Therapeutic work with children and young people

  • Working with or supporting staff teams

  • 1:1 therapeutic interventions

  • Multi-agency partnership working

  • Strong assessment and decision-making skills

✔ Essential Knowledge & Skills:

  • Safeguarding

  • Child/adolescent development

  • Outcomes monitoring

  • Knowledge of childcare legislative frameworks

  • Strong communication and ICT skills

✔ Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to work flexibly, including weekends

  • Full UK driving licence and access to transport is essential
